ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. – Embry-Riddle Men's Tennis earned its fifth win in a row on Thursday, topping Augustana (5-6) 7-0 in a neutral site match at Sanlando Park. The win marked the third shutout of the year for the Eagles who are now 5-6 overall and will face Northwood (Mich.) at 11 a.m. on Saturday.
All three matches ended with 6-2 wins for the Eagles.
Alexis Guedy and
Luke Paschal downed Henry Dombusch and Cade Damgaard at No. 1,
Lukas Schneider and
Michele Iftimie topped Nicholas LaPoint and Meg Siritaworachan, and
Fernando Alonso and
Alvaro Diaz Rodrigo bested Tyson Cowger and Clayton Poppenga at No. 3.
All six singles matches were decided in straight sets beginning with Diaz Rodrigo's 6-2, 6-2 win over Siritaworachan on court three.
Yoav Nir registered a 6-2, 6-3 win over Poppenga at No. 6 and Alonso scored the clincher with a 6-2, 6-1 defeat of LaPoint on court two.
Guedy (6-1, 6-2), Paschal (6-1, 6-1) and Schneider (6-4, 6-1) closed out the scoring for the Eagles with wins at the first, fifth and fourth positions, respectively.
