BRADENTON, Fla. – The Embry-Riddle men's tennis team was unable to advance past the semifinal round of the Sunshine State Conference tournament on Friday as the Eagles fell to top-ranked and No. 1 seed Saint Leo 4-0.
The Lions secured the doubles point with two quick wins at the second and third positions.
In singles, Saint Leo picked up the three points they needed at positions three through five. The first point came at the fourth spot where Nicolas Bacella downed
Luke Paschal 6-0, 6-1. On court five, No. 43 Tao Castillo Bernal topped
Pol Fontdegloria 6-0, 6-1 and No. 34 Vincent Thiel battled
Alvaro Diaz Rodrigo to a 6-4, 6-1 win at No. 3 to clinch the team victory.
The Eagles will play another match in Bradenton on Saturday, taking on Rollins in the third-place match at 9 a.m.
