LAKELAND, Florida -
Tanner Rosolino began his senior cross country season with a runner-up finish on Friday morning at the Mocs XC Kick-Off for the Embry-Riddle men's cross country squad. Rosolino was just six seconds behind the race winner, breaking the program 6K record (previously held by
Ryan Szklany) at Holloway Park on a modified 6K course in the meet hosted by Florida Southern. As a team, the Eagles placed third overall behind the host Mocs and Tampa.
Rosolino posted a 5:05 minute per mile average en route to his total time of 18:56, more than 15 seconds faster than the third-place finisher. Equally as impressive was Nick Scarangelli's top-10 time of 19:23 as the Eagle freshman made his collegiate debut in ninth place individually, and was the fastest freshman in the entire field.
Andrew Stowe (24th - 19:51),
Micah Blair (26th - 19:54), and
Ethan Stout (27th - 19:57) finished near each other to round out the Embry-Riddle scorers.
Also making their collegiate debuts were
Rylan Malarchick (33rd - 20:05) and
Lucca DiMario (45th - 20:31), while
Ryan Musil (48th - 20:36) also competed for the Blue and Gold.
ERAUÂ has a few weeks to rest and prepare for the annual Embry-Riddle Cross Country Classic on Sept. 16. The Eagles will look to claim their 18th home meet title in 20 tries.
