FAIRBURN, Ga. – The Embry-Riddle men's cross country team collected yet another solid performance on the trail Friday, taking home first place out of 16 teams at the Georgia Tech XC Invite. Tayan Benson (5th – 25:37.76) and Nicholas Scarangelli (8th – 25:50.34) paced the running Eagles with top-10 finishes in the field of 154 at Boukaert Farms.

ERAU scored a total of 37 points, handling Division I teams including hosts Georgia Tech, South Alabama and Emory. Benson was just off his 8K PR time, while Scarangelli collected yet another top-10 finish in the competitive field. The Eagles were out in the lead pack for the most part, and when the dust settled there was less than a 50 second gap between the entire top-10.

Andrew Stowe (12th – 25:54.19), Brandon Santagelo (14th – 25:58.45), Rylan Malarchick (16th – 26:04.92), Joseph Koraya (20th – 26:21.07) and Ethan Stout (21st – 26:22.36) all added to the team score with top-21 finishes. The five Eagles were in the lead pack much of the way, running competitive personal times; Malarchick, the Eagles' best finisher two weeks ago in the ERAU Classic, set a new PR with his time.

Tristan Hidorff (50th – 27:18.84), Jacob Fritz (54th – 27:30.65), Micah Blair (60th – 27:47.94), Carter Bergeron (64th – 27:50.73), Tristan McWilliam (70th – 28:05.61) and Aleksander Schade (79th – 28:45.65) rounded out the runners in Blue & Gold on the day, as all 13 Eagles finished in the top half of the field.

The race was a great lead-in for ERAU, which checks in at No. 4 in the region this week,  as it heads towards the back-half of the schedule with just one more regional meet before the postseason arrives. ERAU will head to Huntsville, Ala., next week to compete in the UAH Invite (Oct. 12) before gearing up for the SSC Championship on Oct. 25.
