Volleyball Celebrates Seniors With Sweep of Sailfish

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Seniors Hunter Ackermann, Jaden McBride and Constanza Silva were all celebrated prior to Embry-Riddle volleyball's 3-0 sweep of Palm Beach Atlantic on Senior Night. The Eagles overwhelmed the Sailfish, holding them to just 21 kills over three sets and a flat hit percentage of .000, which is the lowest a Sunshine State Conference opponent has hit against ERAU this season. Additionally, the Blue and Gold posted 74 digs, which is the most in a three-set match in the SSC this season and the highest mark set by the program since 2019.

It was the Eagles' fourth-straight win over PBA and their ninth victory in the previous 10 meetings. ERAU improved to 11-1 at home this season.

Haley Manjack got the first set going with back-to-back kills for an early 2-1 lead. From there, ERAU's lead continued to slowly increase as McBride led the charge with five kills. Silva entered into the match and secured the set-clinching point with a block to help the Eagles win 25-16, which concluded a 6-1 run to end the set.

That momentum carried over into the second set as ERAU began set two with a 5-1 spurt, thanks to two kills from Fifi Harvey. Once again, the home team maintained the lead from there on out. Kailey Hrbek collected three-straight points with two blocks and a kill during a 4-0 streak. Though the Sailfish did cut into the Eagles' 20-9 advantage with four straight points, Embry-Riddle responded by capturing the last five points of the set with kills from McBride, Harvey, and Stella Weisbrod to win 25-13.

PBA put up a fight in set three as ERAU fell behind 7-5 due to three consecutive errors. However, the Eagles followed up with five unanswered tallies that included a Ruby Owen kill and an Ackermann dig to lead 10-7. Both sides went back and forth until the Blue and Gold posted seven points in a row from kills by Harvey, Hrbek and Silva along with three PBA miscues. The 20-11 lead held up until ERAU closed out the match with a 25-17 third-set win.

McBride led the team offensively with 15 kills and 20 digs. Isabella Rujano gathered 14 digs, seven kills and four blocks. Ashlyn Koerner led in assists once again with 26 and eight digs while Lexie Hage tallied 10 assists. Hrbek posted a season-high five blocks, and Ashley Lunt registered 11 digs for her second-straight game with double-digit digs.

The final home game of the season is on Saturday when the Eagles host #17 Lynn at 4 p.m.
