Women's Tennis Improves to 2-0, Defeating Palm Beach Atlantic 6-1

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The Embry-Riddle women's tennis team moved to 2-0 and 1-0 in the Sunshine State Conference on the season, as Chad Berryhill's undefeated streak to start his tenure as Eagles head coach continues with another 6-1 win, this time over Palm Beach Atlantic.
 

The scoring began with Itxaso Blanco and Carla Cabero del Hierro winning 6-2 over the PBA pair of Jimona Karlsson-Hantzis and Cecilia Peroni at No. 1 doubles. After that, No. 3 doubles duo of Jessica Christa Wira Hadipoernomo and Kaylee Kirivong defeated Alsterhem and Croes 6-3, as the No. 2 doubles pair of Laura Cuesta Bret and Maja Issler wrapped up the doubles by winning 7-5 against Jasmine Williams and Alessia Passerini.

Blanco won first in the singles, defeating Williams 6-1, 6-1 at the No. 1 spot. PBA got one back after that, as Passerini won 6-1, 6-1 against Alessia Tripaldelli to make it 2-1 at the No. 6 spot.

Maja Issler nullified that in No. 2 singles, defeating her counterpart Karlsson-Hantzis 6-2, 6-3. ERAU then clinched the win, as Wira Hadipoernomo won the No. 5 match-up 6-4, 6-2 over Peroni.

The Eagles then got two more wins from the No. 3 and No. 4 spots, as Cuesta Bret and Carla Cabero del Hierro defeated Alina Hoermann and Virginia Borja 6-3, 6-1 and 6-3, 6-3 respectively.

The Eagles are back at home on Wednesday, as they will face rivals Rollins at 3:30 p.m.
