Women’s Tennis Improves to 3-0 After 6-1 Defeat of Rollins

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Embry-Riddle women's tennis team continued its undefeated start, moving to 3-0 (2-0 Sunshine State Conference) on the season with a 6-1 defeat of the Rollins Tars (1-1, 0-1 SSC).

The Eagles got off to a winning start in the doubles, taking two of the three matches.


First to win was the No. 1 doubles tandem of Ixtaso Blanco and Carla Cabero del Hierro, defeating Polina Vlasova and Milla Falster 6-1. After this, Jessica Christa Wira Hadipoernomo and Kaylee Kirivong won 6-3 in the No. 3 doubles against Polina Ligay and Erin Yaroshuk to give ERAU the doubles point. Rollins won the No. 2 doubles match, as Nancy Liu and Katie Groves scored a 7-5 victory over Maja Issler and Laura Cuesta Bret.

Cabero del Hierro got the Eagles off to a winning start in the singles, defeating Ligay 6-3,6-0 in the No. 4 singles match. Following that, No. 46 Blanco won 6-2,6-1 against Vlasova in the No. 1 spot to put the Eagles up 3-0.

Embry-Riddle clinched the win in the No. 3 matchup, as Laura Cuesta Bret defeated Groves 6-1,6-4. After that, Issler lost 6-4, but then retired up 3-2 as Nancy Liu won the No. 2 singles to make it 4-1.

Wira Hadipoernomo won in the No. 5 spot 7-5,6-1 against Milla Falster, putting ERAU up 5-1.

Alessia Tripaldelli and Nina Mitrofanova were the final two to finish, as their No. 6 matchup finished 6-4,4-6 before Tripaldelli won the tiebreaker. 

The Eagles are back in action on Saturday, as they'll be taking a trip down to Boca Raton to face Lynn at 1:30 p.m.
