LAKELAND, Fla. – The Embry-Riddle women's tennis moved to 4-1 and 3-1 in the Sunshine State Conference on the season, as the Eagles defeated Florida Southern 6-1 on the road at the Wynee Warden Tennis Center.
The scoring began with
Itxaso Blanco and
Carla Cabero del Hierro winning 6-1 over the FSC pair of Laia Pasini and Costa Beatriz at the No. 1 doubles. After that, the No. 3 doubles pair was won by Florida Southern, as Vivien Charvatova and Kelly Klaren defeated
Jessica Christa Wira Hadipoernomo and
Kaylee Kirivong 6-2. It was the No. 2 doubles pair of
Laura Cuesta Bret and
Maja Issler who clinched the doubles point for the Eagles, winning 6-4 over the FSC tandem of Kennedi Brown and Jolie Miller 6-4.
Cabero del Hierro got the Eagles off to a winning start in the singles, defeating Charatova 6-3, 6-2. After that, Wira Hadipoernomo's 6-2, 6-3 No. 5 victory against Miller made it 3-0
It was
Alessia Tripaldelli who got the clincher, as her 6-4, 7-6 victory in the No. 6 match-up against Klaren secured victory for ERAU. Following that, Blanco defeated Pasini 6-3, 7-6, 10-5 at the No. 1spot.
Olivia Bryant got the Lady Mocs on the board, as she won the No. 3 match-up against Cuesta Bret 6-4, 7-6. Issler wrapped it up with a win in the No. 2 slot, defeating Costa 6-2, 5-7, 6-3.
The Eagles are back at home on Monday, as they will face Michigan Tech at 3:30 p.m.
