DAYTONA BEACH. Fla. – The No. 23 Embry-Riddle women's tennis team continued to win, improving to 8-2 with a 4-0 dispatching of No. 48 Indiana (Pa.) on Sunday.
The Eagles started off with a win in the doubles, as the tandem of
Itxaso Blanco and
Laura Cuesta Bret won the No. 1 matchup 6-2 against Ming Deewajee and Dani Ramos. The Crimson Hawks responded in the No. 2 spot, as Katy Graydon and Lydia Vlachou defeated
Maja Issler and
Carla Cabero del Hierro by a score of 6-4. With the doubles point in the balance, the duo of
Jessica Christa Wira Hadipoernomo and
Kaylee Kirivong came from behind to win 7-5 against Veronica Sirci and Hannah Beita.
Cuesta Bret won the first singles contest, as she defeated Deewajee 6-1, 6-0 in the No. 3 spot. After that, Wira Hadipoernomo won 6-1, 6-3 against Vlachou in the No. 5 matchup, putting ERAU up 3-0.
The clinching point came from the No. 4 slot, when Cabero del Hierro won 6-1, 5-1 due to Ramos retiring from the game, giving the Eagles the 4-0 win.
The Eagles get a day off from playing on Monday, before facing No. 13 Midwestern State at 3 p.m. on Tuesday.
