DAYTONA BEACH, Fla.— Sixteenth-ranked Embry-Riddle Men's Tennis notched a quick victory over Wisconsin Eau-Claire (2-7) on Tuesday, topping the Blugolds 7-0 at the Crotty Tennis Center. The match, which lasted just 98 minutes, improved the Eagles' overall record to 9-2.
The first match off the court in doubles was at the third spot where
Alvaro Diaz Rodrigo and
Safar Rasulov made quick work of Pablo Rincon and Ethan Wurtzel, 6-0. Playing on court two, 15th-ranked
Fernando Alonso and
Caelan Potts assured the Eagles of the doubles point with a 6-1 win over Colin Chapman and Ryan Fonseca.
Michele Iftimie and
Joshua Nuyts wrapped up the sweep with a 7-5 win over Hunter Roseth and Demetri Bush to put the Eagles up 1-0.
No. 67 Diaz Rodrigo was efficient in his straight-set win against Ethan Leeser, dispatching the Blugolds' No. 6 player 6-0, 6-0 in just 34 minutes. Potts topped Fonseca 6-2, 6-0 at No. 5 and 47th-ranked Rasulov bested Roseth 6-0, 6-1 at the top spot to score the clincher.
Alonso (6-1, 6-0) and No. 24 Nuyts (6-0, 6-1) surrendered just one apiece in wins over Otto Schluter and Bush, respectively, and Iftimie capped the scoring with his 6-1, 6-2 defeat of Rincon.
The Eagles return to Sunshine State Conference play on Thursday when they host Lynn in a 3:30 p.m. contest at the Crotty Tennis Complex.
