DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Despite a slow start, finding itself down three scores after the first period, the Embry-Riddle men's lacrosse team silenced Lynn on Saturday afternoon. The Eagles (5-3, 1-0 SSC) used 13 second half goals (including nine in the final frame)  to outmatch the Fighting Knights (3-5, 0-1 SSC), 17-11.
 
ERAU was led again by Pete Abbes, who registered eight points on five goals and three assists. With his eight points, Abbes becomes the second Eagle to eclipse the career 100-point mark, following only fellow teammate Coleman Jacobs, who eclipsed the 200-point plateau last week. For his part, Jacobs added four more points on the day with four goals, his fourth multi-goal effort this season, and third hat trick.
 
Isaiah Hines also lit up the scoreboard twice, adding one assist for three points, as did Christian Hofer and Joe Anderson. Frankie Morrisey, who was quite efficient in the faceoff circle on the day (he won 14 of 23 faceoffs), and Christopher Harper rounded out the Eagle scoring with a goal apiece.
 
In net, keeper Reid Kerr had an outstanding afternoon, standing on his head for 19 saves in 60 minutes of action. Kerr faced a high-powered Lynn offense and made some big time saves down the stretch, including multiple times with a handful of shots coming his way in a row.
 
ERAU found itself with an early two goal lead thanks to Jacobs' goal at 12:48 and Anderson's at 11:30. But Lynn reeled off a run of five scores in a row to close out the first, all within two minutes of each other to win the period, 5-2.
 
Jacobs opened the scoring in the second, about halfway through, but the Knights recounted with another tally to make it 6-3. But Hines netted his first of the day with just over a minute left from Anderson to pull within two. The Eagles won the second frame, 2-1.
 
After halftime, the Eagles' defense clamped down, and the offense started to wake up. Kerr allowed just five goals in the second half. Abbes notched his initial goal of the afternoon in the third at the 13:22 mark. The Fighting Knights answered quickly with back-to-back goals to go up 8-5 with just seven minutes to play in the third. But starting with Abbes second score of the frame at the 1:51 mark, the Eagles reeled off three goals in less than two minutes. Hofer tallied one with 32 seconds left, then with a man-up situation, scored again with just 10 seconds to play in the third, tying the game up and quieting the Lynn bench.
 
Anderson and Harper then went back-to-back in two consecutive possessions to make it 10-8, before Lynn notched one at 11:41 to pull back within a score. But Abbes and Jacobs combined for the next five goals (three from Abbes, two from Jacobs) to vault the Eagles quickly up 15-9. Lynn would get two more goals in the period, but by that time the game was well out of hand. Morrisey added his first goal of the year after winning a faceoff and sprinting down the middle of the field, then Hines netted his 23^rd goal of the year with 1:03 left as the Eagles walked away with the 17-11 win.
