| By:
VALDOSTA, Ga. — No. 18 Embry-Riddle Women's Tennis (9-4) got back in the win column up north, as the Eagles scored a 4-1 victory over No. 44 Valdosta State (3-6).

The teams opted to play singles first and to play to clinching point because of weather considerations, which meant doubles wound up not being played.

Maja Issler got ERAU started off with a win in the No. 2 singles, defeating Denisa Hanakova 7-5, 6-3. Carla Cabero del Hierro followed this up with a win of her own in the No. 4 spot, winning 6-3, 6-3 over Kaylee Greco.

VSU got one back in the No. 3 matchup, with Aneta Poborilova winning 7-6 (7-5), 6-1 against Laura Cuesta Bret. However Itxaso Blanco answered with a win in the No. 1 singles, mounting a comeback after the first set to defeat Natalie Rainke 4-6, 6-2, 6-4.

Victory was ERAU's in the No. 5 matchup, as Jessica Christa Wira Hadipoernomo scored a 6-2, 4-6, 7-5 over Olivia Pezo for the clinching point.

The Eagles will be back on the court in Valdosta tomorrow for a showdown against No. 7 West Alabama, with the start time currently slated for 11 a.m.
