No. 18 Women's Tennis Gains Top-10 Win with Defeat of No. 8 West Alabama

| By:
VALDOSTA, Ga. — No. 18 Embry-Riddle Women's Tennis (10-4) wrapped up their weekend slate, overcoming an early deficit to get their first top-10 win of their NCAA Division II era with a 4-1 defeat of No. 8 West Alabama (8-6).

The doubles point went to UWA, as Heden Ly and Khim Iglupas scored a 6-3 victory over ERAU's No. 2 doubles pairing of Carla Cabero del Hierro and Jessica Christa Wira Hadipoernomo, while the No. 3 matchup was then won by West Alabama's Lolita Hukasian and Emiri Takanishi 7-5 against Maja Issler and Kaylee Kirivong.

In the singles however, it was a different story.

Cabero del Hierro got it started off on the right note for ERAU, defeating Takanishi 6-1, 6-3 at the No. 4 singles to tie it up 1-1. Alessia Tripaldelli put Embry-Riddle in front, winning 6-4, 6-0 over Greta Zawels at the No. 6 slot to make it 2-1.

Wira Hadipoernomo continued this trend in the No. 5 matchup, coming from behind to defeat Hardija Vidnere 4-6, 6-4, 6-2.

Cuesta Bret clinched victory for the Eagles in the No. 3 singles matchup, as her 6-1, 6-7 (2-7), 6-3 win over Ly made it 4-1, giving Embry-Riddle the Win

It's back to home for the Eagles this week, as they're set to host the Academy of Art on Thursday at 3:30 p.m.
