No. 10 Women Tennis Downs Southeastern 6-1 on Senior Day

DAYTONA BEACH. Fla. – The No. 10 Embry-Riddle women's tennis team (15-5) continued its winning ways, coming from behind to knock off NAIA No. 3 Southeastern Fire (12-5) 6-1.

This improves ERAU's all-time record against Southeastern to 10-0, outscoring the Fire 82-1 in those matchups.

The doubles got off to a good start for the Eagles, as the No. 3 pairing of Jessica Christa Wira Hadipoernomo and Kaylee Kirivong cruised to a 6-2 victory over Isabella Forcella and Marla Martinez. SEU responded quickly at the No. 1 doubles, as the NAIA No. 38 tandem of Martina Picardi and Simone Simas defeated the No. 12 duo of Itxaso Blanco and Laura Cuesta Bret 6-1.

The doubles point came down to the No. 2 matchup, where Flaminia Guidantoni and Ingrid Montserrat came from behind to claim a 6-4 victory over the Eagles' combo of Maja Issler and Carla Cabero del Hierro.

ERAU struck back to start the singles, as Wira Hadipoernomo scored a 6-1, 6-2 win over Martinez at the No. 5 spot. Then at the No. 1 singles, No. 28 Blanco won 6-4, 7-5 over NAIA No. 19 Picardi.  

The Eagles were within one game of victory after the No. 3 matchup, as No. 67 Cuesta Bret defeated Sima 6-3, 7-6 (7-3 tiebreaker) to go up 3-1. Then Cabero del Hierro gave ERAU the win, as her 7-6 (7-2), 7-5 win over Montserrat clinched victory at the No. 4 slot for the Eagles.  

Embry-Riddle continued to win, as Alessia Tripaldelli scored a 6-1, 6-1 victory against Forcella at the No. 6 singles. No. 50 Issler wrapped up the day at the No. 2 spot, defeating Guidantoni 6-2, 1-6, 6-4.

The Eagles are back in action next weekend, as they head to Lakeland for the Sunshine State Conference Tournament, beginning on Friday, April 26.
