The Eagles made program history with Friday's win, advancing to the SSC semifinals for the first time since becoming members of the league.

The two teams traded wins to start the doubles, as the Eagles struck first in the No. 3 matchup, with Carla Cabero del Hierro and Maja Issler defeating Annie Wilberg and Savannah Williams 6-0, before Tampa's Nicole Cerniak and Kristina Mimetic scored a 6-1 victory against Kaylee Kirivong and Jessica Christa Wira Hadipoernomo at No. 2 doubles.

With the doubles points in the balance, the No. 13-ranked tandem of Itxaso Blanco and Laura Cuesta Bret won 6-2 in the No. 1 slot against the No. 23 duo of Julie Ball and Victoria Sanchez to put Embry-Riddle up 1-0.

Tampa responded to start the singles, as Rebecca Presley took the win at the No. 6 spot 6-1, 6-1 against Alessia Tripaldelli. The Spartans then took the lead as Williams defeated Cuesta Bret 7-5, 6-2 in the No. 3 spot, giving Tampa a 2-1 lead.

Not to be deterred, Embry Riddle won the next two. At No. 4 singles, Cabero del Hierro won 6-3, 6-2 against Cerniak. Wira Hadipoernomo followed that up with a 6-3, 2-6, 6-2 win against Miletic in the No. 5 slot to make it 3-2.
