DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The 12th-ranked Embry-Riddle men's tennis team came up short against No. 9 Barry, falling 6-1 to the Buccaneers at the Crotty Tennis Complex on Saturday. The Eagles are now 3-3 in Sunshine State Conference play and 12-5 overall, while Barry improves to 10-3 and 3-1 in league play.
The Buccaneers got the first doubles win of the as Joao Ferreria and David Rieme topped
Joshua Nuyts and
Michele Iftimie 6-1.
Safar Rasulov and
Alvaro Diaz Rodrigo evened things up with their 6-2 defeat of Alessio Demichelis and Simone Rivera at the third spot, but Barry won the doubles point after Time Riedel and Bastien Rieme held off Fernand Alonso and
Caelan Potts 7-5.
Barry took a 3-0 advantage with wins on courts three and four, and 47th-ranke David Rieme clinched the Buccaneers win with a 6-3, 6-1 decision against Potts at No. 5 singles.
The Eagles' only singles win came at the sixth spot where Diaz Rodirigo downed Leo Caill 6-2, 3-6, 10-7 to earn his 17th win of the season.
The Eagles' next game will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday when they travel to St. Petersburg to take on Eckerd.
