BOCA RATON, Fla. – It took 10 innings to decide, but the Embry-Riddle baseball team came away with a solid 10-8 victory over Lynn on Sunday, securing the series win over the Fighting Knights. The Eagles move to 19-13, 7-8 SSC after the win.
Â
Timo Aracena had a stellar day at the plate, going 4-for-6 with three runs scored and two RBI with two doubles.
Chase Bruno once again collected a mult-hit game, going 3-for-6 with an RBI, while
Matthew Coker's double-turned-homer gave him three RBI on a 1-for-4 day.
Dillon Lifrieri and
Tyler Castelli also added a pair of hits each, combining for a couple of runs scored as well, while
AJ Marinello scored three times on a hit and two walks.
Â
It was a bullpen day for the Eagles, who threw
Tristan Harley (1.2IP),

Spencer Marinac (2.0IP),
Trevor Nolan (1.2IP) and
Max Meyer (2.1IP). The ERAU staff combined for nine strikeouts but walked 10 batters. Meyer picked up the win yielding no hits and a walk to two punch outs in the effort.
Â
For the third time in the series, Lynn scored in the bottom of the first inning, this time plating three runs off a three-run homer from Paulino. In the bottom of the second, a hit-by-pitch with the bases loaded made it 4-0 in favor of the home team early.
Â
The Eagles got a pair of runs back in the top of the third, thanks to an RBI double from Aracena, which scored
Dillon Lifrieri, who doubled in the previous at bat to lead things off. After Coker drew a one-out walk, Bruno singled through the right side to score Aracena, cutting the lead in half at 4-2. Sean Dougherty of LU belted his third homer of the series in the bottom half, however, extending the Fighting Knights lead to 5-2 after three full.
Â
Aracena once again drove another runner home in the top of the fourth, plating Marinello, who drew a leadoff walk in the inning to make it 5-3, allowing ERAU to hang in. But Lynn stretched the lead out once more in the bottom of the fifth off an RBI double.
Â
ERAU scratched a run across in the sixth thanks to a Coker sac fly. Coker added two more RBI in the next inning, his seventh run batted in on the series. Marinello earned his second leadoff walk of the game, then with two outs, Aracena doubled once again to left field, putting two runners in scoring position for
Cameron Martinez. The Eagle backstop reached on an error, which scored Marinello, then Coker drove a deep ball hovering the fould line in left field. The shot scored
Elias Campbell (pinch running for Martinez) and Aracena, but two errant throws allowed Coker to come home on the play, ultimately giving ERAU an 8-6 advantage.
Â
Nolan held the Fighting Knights scoreless for 1.2 innings, but Lynn was able to get two across off a single and hit-by-pitch to tie things up, before Meyer took the hill in the bottom of the eighth. Each side went scoreless in the ninth, setting up extra innings.
Â
The Eagles capitalized thanks to back-to-back one-out sinlges from Castelli and Marinello, setting up a suicide squeeze from
Alex Britton. He laid down a perfect bunt and nearly got to first safely himself, scoring Castelli in the process. In the next at bat,
Dylan Brazil punched a double to easily score Marinello to give the Eagles a comfortable two-run lead at 10-8. From there, Meyer allowed a one-out walk and HBP, but Bruno and
Camden Traficante turned the Eagles' the second Blue & Gold double play of the afternoon to seal the deal, giving Embry-Riddle the series win.
Â
Up next, the Eagles welcome in the Flagler Saints to Sliwa Stadium for a Tuesday night showdown, before returning to the road this weekend to take on Nova Southeastern in three games.
