MELBOURNE, Fla. -- Six Eagle athletes were honored by the Sunshine State Conference this week, as the Embry-Riddle Varisty 4+ boat as well as
Laura Cuesta Bret of women's tennis captured weekly SSC honors.
It was a short but successful trip out west to the Pioneer/Pilot Invitational, as Embry-Riddle picked up the win in the Varsity 4+ race caused the cancelation of the remainder of the event. The boat of

Laurel Grein (coxswain) competed against No. 2 Cal Poly Humboldt, No. 3 Seattle Pacific, No. 4 Western Washington and two NCAA Division I institutions (Portland and Seattle). Despite tough competition, the Eagles picked up the win, finishing the 2,000m race in 8:34.1.
Cuesta Bret wins her first SSC honor following a strong week, going 4-0 while facing the two top-ranked programs in NCAA Division II. On Wednesday against No. 1 Nova Southeastern, Cuesta Bret helped defeat the No. 1-ranked doubles tandem before winning in the singles against the Sharks' No. 61-ranked player. On Sunday, the Eagles faced No. 2 Barry, where Cuesta Bret defeated the Buccaneers' top doubles tandem before scoring a victory against their No. 24-ranked singles player.Â
