Women’s Golf’s Assistant Coach Hanson Qualifies for U.S. Senior Women’s Open

LIBERTY CORNER, N.J. - Success is no stranger to women's golf's volunteer assistant coach Tracy Hanson, and the longtime former LPGA Tour pro is still proving she has the ability to play at an elite level. Hanson recently qualified for the 6th U.S. Senior Women's Open, and she understands the magnitude of this special opportunity.

"This is a major championship for the senior women," Hanson said. "Unlike any other USGA Open, this event holds prestige, and it's an honor to qualify for my third time. Personally, I know I am capable of playing at this top level again, and it's been a journey to get back in competitive spirit."

Hanson earned a spot in the tournament thanks to her performance at the Chicago sectional qualifier. Eighteen players were vying for three spots and two alternates. Hanson shot a 75 in her round at the Palatine Hills Golf Club to finish tied for second and receive an invitation to play in the U.S. Senior Women's Open.

"This is an opportunity to compete against my peers who are some of the best senior professionals in the world," Hanson added. "It's also part of my story of redeeming the goodness of what golf has meant and given me in my life. I am playing to experience joy in the game again and also to be relevant for other young players who I am able to mentor and support."

The championship is scheduled to take place at the Fox Chapel Golf Club in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania from August 1-4. Hanson will be one of 120 in the field vying for the coveted U.S. Senior Women's Open Trophy. The tournament page can be found here.
