MOBILE, Ala. – The Embry-Riddle men's soccer team traveled to Mobile, Alabama, for a match-up against Spring Hill College. The Eagles dominated winning their third consecutive match up against the Badgers 3-1
The first half was dynamic, with both teams battling for control. Embry-Riddle's
Sandro Henning made the first attempt on goal in the seventh minute, but his effort was blocked by the Badgers' defense. The Eagles' persistence paid off in the 12th minute when
Matteo Moreno Madrid, assisted by
Ethan Rosenblum, scored his first goal of the season.
Following the goal, the Eagles continued to press forward.
Gabriel Mentrup had a notable opportunity just two minutes later, but his shot was saved by Spring Hill's goalkeeper, Martin Gomez. This would be the last significant attempt on goal for Embry-Riddle in the first half.
The remainder of the half saw the Eagles' defense, anchored by goalkeeper
Salvatore della Valle, take charge. Della Valle recorded five saves ensuring that the Badgers remained scoreless heading into halftime.
The Eagles came out fighting in the second half regaining the momentum they had early in the first. It only took one minute into the second half for freshman
Fabian Hilpert to get his name on the board with an unassisted goal to the lower right corner, for his fifth goal in four games. The goal woke up the Badgers' offense and a mistake on defense resulted in a penalty kick for Spring Hill, which they converted.
The remainder of the second half was filled by end-to-end action until the Eagles took charge for one final time in the game. Hilpert gained his first assist for the year to
Yali Shiray who scored in the top left of the goal giving the Eagles their first win on the road for the 2024 season.
The Eagles hit the road again on Wednesday traveling to Winter Park, Florida where they take on Rollins College at 6 p.m.
