| By:
LAKELAND, Fla. – Thanks to a triad of top-10 finishes, including a program record in the 6K from Tayan Benson, the Embry-Riddle men's cross country team wrapped up the Holloway Collegiate XC Opener with a second-place team finish.

Benson's time of 18:52 sets the program record in the 6K, as his 5:03 mile pace was good enough for fourth place in the field. The junior from Gallup, N.M., broke Tanner Rosolino's previous mark, set last season at the same event, by four seconds. Nicholas Scarangelli's time of 19:08 was a full 15 seconds faster than his previous mark in the Holloway Open last season as well. Freshman Joseph Koraya's time of 19:12 gave ERAU its third top-10 finisher of the afternoon, as he finished just four ticks off Scarangelli for sixth place.

Brandon Santagelo (15th – 19:33) and Simon Cole (16th – 19:34) rounded out the top-20 finishers for the Blue & Gold out of the field of 107 runners. Lucca DiMario (21st – 19:41), Rylan Malarchick (27th – 19:56) and newcomer Tristan Hindorff (34th – 20:01) were next in the pack of Eagles, while Jake Fritz (37th – 20:18), Ethan Stout (39th – 20:28), Ryan Musil (42nd – 20:27), Jacob D'Aleo (44th – 20:36) and Leo Borjon (45th – 20:38) wrapped up top-50 times on the morning. Aleksander Schade (57th – 21:21) and Carter Bergeron (66th– 21:53) both rounded out the list of Eagle runners on the day, helping ERAU to its second-place finish.

Following the strong season opener, head coach Mike Rosolino and his Eagles will be set to host the ERAU Cross Country Classic on campus in two weeks on Sept. 21.
