Barr, Klinger Produce Season-Best Performances in Men’s Basketball’s 86-66 Win Over Eckerd

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- In his first career start, Dawson Barr made the most of the opportunity by posting a season-high 11 points and eight rebounds in men's basketball's 86-66 victory at Eckerd on Saturday afternoon. Jack Klinger also grabbed his fair share of the spotlight with a perfect performance from the floor (6-for-6). The sophomore's 14 points were a career-high and his seven rebounds matched a personal best. Meanwhile, Barr's eight rebounds were a team high, and he also led the squad in three-point shots made with three. Yassin Hussein was the top scorer with 19 points while Michael McCalister (12), and Jared Berry (10) also reached double figures.

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Half
  • Hussein took charge early on, capturing 11 of the team's first 19 points to put ERAU ahead 19-13 almost halfway through the first half.
  • Klinger took over, tallying 11 of the Blue and Gold's next 13 points to increase the lead up to 13 (32-19) with 4:35 left.
  • Barr connected on a deep shot to make the score 35-21 at the 3:34 mark. That would be the first of five-consecutive successful three-point shots for the Eagles, three of which came from Barr. 
  • Embry-Riddle ended the half with four made shots in a row that was capped off with a dunk from Hussein with 12 seconds left on the clock.
  • ERAU led 46-28 at the break.
  • Hussein controlled the offense, scoring 15 points on 6-of-10 shooting.
  • Klinger dominated the interior, converting on all five layups and grabbing four rebounds.


Second Half
  • The Eagles stretched their lead out to 22 (59-37) after nailing five consecutive shots from 18:58 to 16:48. 
  • ERAU's advantage continued to increase with an 11-2 spurt with 8:42 remaining.
  • Five minutes later, the lead reached its peak when Berry converted on a shot from beyond the arc to conclude a 9-2 streak to make the score 82-56.
  • The Eagles guarded the perimeter well, holding the Tritons to a 1-for-9 clip from deep in the half.
  • The Blue and Gold also forced Eckerd to miss its final five shots of the game.

  • Embry-Riddle outrebounded Eckerd 47-35, 20 of which came on the offensive end. ERAU has won the rebounding battle in 16 of its 19 games this season. 
  • The Eagles doubled the Tritons' points in the paint, 48-24.
