Men’s Basketball Cruises Past Florida Tech, 77-62

MELBOURNE, Fla. -- A balanced scoring effort led the Embry-Riddle Men's Basketball to a 77-62 win over Florida Tech on Wednesday night. Ten different Eagles scored, led by 13 from Yassin Hussein. Milan Skoric (12), Michael McCalister (11) and Dawson Barr (10) also reached double figures. Embry-Riddle also dominated the glass once again as the Eagles outrebounded the Panthers 48-39.

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Half
  • Hussein capitalized on a trio of up-close looks to help send the Eagles on a 9-3 run to lead 15-10 (13:51).
  • Florida Tech quickly responded with a three-point shot and a layup in a 40-second span to even the score with 11:18 to go. 
  • From there, the Blue and Gold outscored the Panthers 26-9 through the end of the half.
  • During that run, the Eagles captured 12 unanswered points from the 7:30 minute mark until there was 4:52 left on the clock. It included back-to-back threes from Jared Berry and Skoric.
  • Embry-Riddle ended the first half up 43-26.
  • Hussein controlled the glass with seven rebounds in the period.


Second Half
  • McCalister took charge in the second half by scoring eight of the Eagles' first 12 points of the half.
  • The lead grew to as many as 24 points for ERAU after McCalister drained a shot from deep (63-39, 11:43).
  • Florida Tech chipped away at the Eagles' advantage until it was down to 13 with 3:31 remaining (73-60).
  • However, the Embry-Riddle defence limited Florida Tech to only two points for the rest of the game.

  • Embry-Riddle outrebounded Florida Tech 48-39, 19 of which came on the offensive end. ERAU has won the rebounding battle in 17 of its 20 games this season.
