No. 22 Women’s Soccer Battles to 0-0 Draw with Lee

CLEVELAND, Tenn. – No. 22 Embry-Riddle Women's Soccer earned its second consecutive draw on Saturday afternoon, playing to a scoreless result against Lee. The match featured end-to-end action, with the two sides combining for 22 shots and 11 saves. With their sixth draw of the season, the Eagles have now set a new program record for the most draws in a single campaign.

ALL-TIME SERIES
  • The all-time series between the Eagles and Flames now stands at 3-3-1.
  • This match was the first ever draw between Embry-Riddle and Lee.
  • Saturday's match was the first meeting between the Eagles and Flames since 2019, when Embry-Riddle defeated Lee in the NCAA II National Tournament.
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Eagles' controlled possession in the first half, holding the ball for 61% of the opening 45 minutes. ERAU turned the possession into three total shots, and forced a pair of saves from Abby Whitcomb.
  • In the 13th minute, Kaitlyn Kogl had the Blue and Gold's first shot of the day, seeing Whitcomb save her shot from ten yards out.
  • Lauryn Mateo tested Lee with a shot from distance in the 25th minute, but again, Whitcomb made the save.
  • The Flames did not record their first shot on goal until the 41st minute, but they were much improved in the second half.
  • After only 4 shots and 39% possession in the first half, Lee gained more control and had 11 shots in the 2nd half.
  • Stella Roane made six saves in the second half, finishing with seven total saves.
INSIDE THE STATS
  • With neither side able to pull away, Embry-Riddle kept six of their eleven starters on the field for the full 90 minutes.
  • Roane remains undefeated in her ERAU career, with a 6-0-6 record, and is the only player to play every minute of this season.
  • The Eagles had four different players record a shot on goal this evening.
  • Three scoreless draws are the most ERAU have had in a season in program history.
UP NEXT
The Eagles will return to Sunshine State Conference action when they take on Saint Leo on Wednesday evening at Embry-Riddle Soccer Stadium at 7 p.m. Saint Leo is currently 3-7-1, while holding a 1-4-1 record in the SSC.
