Albright Fires Career-Best Round to Aid Women’s Golf to Top-Five Spot After Day One of Flagler Fall Slam

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. - Personal records tumbled during the opening day of the Flagler Fall Slam. Embry-Riddle Women's Golf saw four Eagles set season-best single-round scores including Stevie Albright, Eden Tsouklaris, Ottavia Franzinelli Socini Guelfi and Frances Amat

"They did an excellent job hanging in there, showing their fight and determination," said Head Coach Maria Lopez. "The wind and greens offered a high-level of challenge. It was fun to see some personal records and comebacks take place."

Albright (T-11th) led the charge with a 74 in round one followed by a career-low 73 in round two. Her performance helped the Blue and Gold shoot a 297, which tied for the eighth-best team round in program history. She, along with Tsouklaris (T-15th) and Franzinelli (T-15th), reside inside the top 15 through two rounds with the team in fifth (599), three shots ahead of Sunshine State Conference foe Palm Beach Atlantic.

The tournament is a real team effort as Embry-Riddle brought all eight rostered Eagles to the event, three of which are competing as individuals.

  • The Eagles managed to jump PBA in round two
  • Emby-Riddle possessed the third-best average on par 5s (5.05)
  • ERAU also recorded the fifth-most birdies (22)

Stevie Albright (74-73=147, +3) | T-11th
  • Albright was ready to go from the start as she began the first round with a birdie and three pars
  • The San Antonio, Texas native ended the round with six-straight pars
  • Albright's success continued in round two with a career-low 73 thanks to five birdies, two of which occurred in the final three holes
  • Her 4.0 stroke average on par 4s is tied for the sixth best in the field
  • Albright's eight birdies led the team and tied for the seventh most in the tournament

Eden Tsouklaris (75-73=148, +4) | T-15th
  • Tsouklaris started and ended her second round with a birdie
  • Her 73 in that round was a season-best stroke total
  • The Flagler Beach, Florida native amassed 25 pars, tied for the fourth most among all golfers

Ottavia Franzinelli Socini Guelfi (74-74=148, +4) | T-15th
  • Franzinelli finished her front nine with eight-straight pars in round one
  • She proceeded to birdie two of the last four holes in the round
  • The freshman joined the PB club with a season-low 74 in round two
  • Just like Albright, Franzinelli birdied two of her last three holes
  • She shot two under on par 5s, which tied for fourth among all competitors
  • Franzinelli was one of just 10 participants to avoid recording a double bogey or worse on day one

Alexandra Drum (79-77=156, +12) | T-37th
  • This is Drum's first tournament of the season
  • She recorded a trio of birdies in round one
  • The sophomore ended the day on a positive note with a birdie and four pars in her last five holes

Loa Johannsson (79-78=157, +13) | T-39th
  • Johannsson capped off the first round with four pars in a row
  • She carried that momentum into the second round with two pars and a birdie to start
  • Out of 65 golfers, Johannsson tied for the ninth-lowest average on par 5s (4.88, -1)

Individuals
Frances Amat (77-74=151, +7) | 27th 
  • Amat rebounded from a tough front nine in the first round with seven pars and a birdie over the last eight holes
  • Then in round two, she posted the lowest score of her season (74) by starting the round with seven pars and one birdie and ending it with a one birdie and par each 

Gabby Roth (82-82=164, +20) | T-53rd 
  • Roth picked up a birdie on her fifth hole of round one, a par 4
  • The second round saw the junior begin with three-consecutive pars and grab two birdies throughout the round

Grayson Kindig (87-82=169, +25) | 59th 
  • This is Kindig's first tournament of the season
  • She accumulated 17 pars on the day
