DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – No. 22 Embry-Riddle women's soccer battled to a 1-1 draw with South Carolina Beaufort on Saturday afternoon, marking the team's third straight draw. After a tightly contested first half, the match opened up in the second. ERAU broke through in the 50th minute before the Sand Sharks equalized just past the hour mark. The closing stages featured a goal-line clearance, a USCB shot off the post, and a key save from Graysen Asher, as the match ended level at 1-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • There were just four shots in the first half this afternoon, with Anna Marisa Lara registering the only shot on target in the 15th minute.
  • Anna Wandrie was the only Sand Shark to record a shot in the first 45 minutes, with her 36th-minute effort going over the crossbar.
  • The first shot of the second half came from Lara again, and her 50th minute goal opened the scoring. Berglind Thrastardottir picked up the ball on the left, and drove inside, with Lara making an overlapping run, receiving the pass, and finishing at the near post.
  • Less than 15 minutes later, and with their only shot on target of the game, USCB tied the game at one. Maggie Olsen was able to make a run in behind the Eagles' backline after a through ball from Alice Webster.
  • Ida Zetterberg, coming off of the bench for the first time this season, tried to make a late impact, but her 80th minute shot was saved by Asher.
  • Lauryn Mateo was the next Eagle to come close, getting her shot past Asher, but the Sand Sharks back line was able to clear it off the goal line and keep the game even.
  • After spending much of the game on the back foot, USCB came inches away from a game-winner with Izzy Ampheltt hitting the outside of the right post.
