Volleyball Honors Seniors Against Nova Southeastern

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Embry-Riddle Volleyball's six seniors (Isabella Rujano, Gabriela Pagan, Olivia Hartmann, Dana Gibbons, Lexie Hage, and Gabriella Mullis) were honored prior to the Eagles' match against Nova Southeastern. ERAU was in good form early on, taking the first set 25-20, but the Sharks claimed the final three sets as the Eagles fell 3-1 on Senior Night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Set
  • The Sharks utilized a 5-1 streak to push Embry-Riddle behind 10-6
  • Down 13-9, the Eagles went on an Isabella Rujano run as the senior scored five of ERAU's points during an 8-0 run, four of which were aces
  • Embry-Riddle held on to the lead to take set one, 25-20
  • Dakota Zieman led the charge in set one with seven kills
Second Set
  • Four unanswered points had NSU up early, 6-3
  • The Eagles used back-to-back kills from Zieman to get within one (12-11)
  • With Embry-Riddle still just down one (13-12), the Sharks took six of the next seven rallies to make it a 19-13 set
  • Nova Southeastern ended the set on a 6-1 run to take it 25-16
Third Set
  • Two NSU errors and a couple Eagle kills had the home side up 4-2
  • ERAU then held a 12-11 advantage when the Sharks went on a 7-2 spurt, once again making the score 19-13
  • Eventually, Nova Southeastern claimed the set 25-18
Fourth Set
  • Embry-Riddle was forced to use an early timeout as the Sharks shot ahead 8-4
  • Unfortunately, the deficit continued to grow as the Blue and Gold spent its second timeout, trailing 14-7
  • The Eagles were unable to regroup, and NSU took the fourth set 25-15

INSIDE THE STATS
  • Rujano produced a double-double with 11 kills and 10 digs, her seventh of the season
  • Lexie Hage contributed a season-high three kills

Embry-Riddle's final match at home is scheduled for Saturday at 5 p.m. against (RV) Palm Beach Atlantic.
