| By:

DELAND, Fla. – Embry-Riddle women's tennis capped its fall campaign with a solid showing at the Stetson Invite in DeLand, Fla. over the weekend, competing in a field that included a handful of NCAA Division I programs.

Action began on Friday afternoon and continued through Sunday with the Eagles showing steady progress throughout the three-day event.

Embry-Riddle opened with Division I side Kennesaw State (Ga.), capturing just one of the three doubles matches and recording wins from Daniela Fernandez Junquera and Lila Small during singles play.

The pairing of Laura Cuesta Bret and Benedetta Sensi earned a 6-3 victory over Sofia Madrid and Teresa Baraniakova in doubles play. During singles action, ERAU earned points from Fernandez Junquera and Small which provided bright spots in the match. Fernandez Junquera dominated 6-2, 6-0, while Small rallied to a 3-4 (4), 4-2, 10-5 win.

Saturday proved to be a successful bounce back for the Eagles as Embry-Riddle secured all but two matches across 14 total matches. The Blue and Gold caught fire on day two, sweeping all five doubles matches and posting a 7-2 mark in singles action.

Charly Egger and Amelie Gindl highlighted with a 6-0 win over Florida A&M's Veronika Rodriguez and Larissa Silva. ERAU finished with a 3-0 record over FAMU while also taking two victories over nearby Daytona Beach neighbor Bethune-Cookman.

As for singles, Katelynn Bourk, Franziska Kremerskothen, Ashley Moinard, Cuesta Bret, Egger, Fernandez Junquera and Gindl each collected victories. Egger cruised 6-0,6-0 in her match against Taylor O'Neal of Bethune-Cookman with Fernandez Junquera and Moinard dropping just three games each in their matches.

Embry-Riddle closed out the weekend strong on Sunday, carrying momentum into the final day with three doubles victories and adding three singles wins. For doubles, Egger and Gindl continued with their successes in a 6-3 win over Stetson's top tandem while Cuesta Bret and Caroline DelSignore partnered for a 6-2 win. Fernandez Junquera and Mariana Cabrera closed with a 6-1 win as well.

In singles, Gindl and Kremerskothen both fought hard in their matches to win against Stetson. Egger also added a victory in straight sets to close the weekend.
