Embry-Riddle Downs Fort Lauderdale in Bahama House Shootout Opener

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Embry-Riddle men's basketball opened the Bahama House Shootout with a convincing victory against Fort Lauderdale on Friday night.

The Eagles (5-4) captured the nightcap over the Eagles (6-7) in the fourth game of the day and second men's competition on Steve & Vicky Ridder Court inside the ICI Center. 

A total of five ERAU players produced double-digit points, led by Jared Berry's 22 and Braeden Moore's 20. Embry-Riddle put together a season-best performance from beyond the arc (53.1%) while recording second-best performances in field goal percentage (53.2%) and assists (22).

HOW IT HAPPENED

First Half
  • Embry-Riddle set the tone early with a 7-0 burst out of the gate as Jack Klinger and Clarens Pierre scored in the paint before a finishing three-pointer from Dawson Barr gave the Eagles an early advantage.
  • Fort Lauderdale settled in and pulled the game within three, but ERAU quickly pressured the guests and captured a double-digit advantage.
  • The Eagles held control of a double-figure lead for most of the half.
  • Embry-Riddle shot 58.1% (18-of-31) from the field and 52.9% (9-of-17) from three behind 12 points from Braeden Moore, who went 4-of-5 from three.
  • Jared Berry added 11 on 4-of-7 shooting from the field to give ERAU a 50-29 lead at the break. 
Second Half
  • Fort Lauderdale battled early and slowly chipped away at the Embry-Riddle lead, eventually pulling the gap down to single digits.
  • The visitors outpaced ERAU 33-19 in the first nine minutes of play to cut the lead down to 69-62.
  • Embry-Riddle swiftly returned to a double-digit edge and would go on to cruise to a 25-point victory to earn the fifth win of the season and third-straight in the ICI Center.
  • ERAU held a 54-50 scoring edge in the second half while shooting 16-of-19 from the foul line to secure the win.
  • Landen Harwood and Berry both scored 11 in the half to lead the scoring for the Eagles. 
INSIDE THE STATS
  • Five ERAU Eagles produced double-digit points with Moore scoring a career-high 20 while shooting 6-for-9 from three.
  • Berry finished with 22 points to lead all scorers, adding five rebounds and three assists.
  • Harwood finished with career-best 17 points, adding two blocks on the defensive end.
  • Both Evan Montanari and Logan Lewis dished out career-highs of six assists apiece.
  • ERAU finished with 22 assists as well as a 46-28 advantage in rebounding.
