Men's Tennis Blanks St.Thomas in First Game of the Season

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla – The No.13 Embry-Riddle men's tennis team (1-0) opened the season with a quick win against St. Thomas. The doubles started the Eagles off right as they won two of the three doubles matches. They dominated in singles winning all six matches in straight sets. 

Doubles 

  • Wilson Igbinovia and Mason Cisco were the first off, the court, dominating the Bobcats' pairing of Jan Gewaltig and Josh Cronj 6-2. 

Singles 

  • A standout performance in the singles came from 36th-ranked Igbinovia. Not giving Fabrizio Marino any time to warm up, he won 6-0, 6-0. 

  • Nuyts was next to finish, dominating from the start winning 6-2, 6-0 against Arthur Bugeaud. 

  • Enrico Rosellini, won his first in-season, collegiate singles match, dominating Rosencrantz 6-1, 6-2 at line three.  

  • Alvaro Diaz Rodrigo came back from an early break in the first set to win 6-4. There was no stopping him after as he did not lose a game in the second set to Emich. 

  • Iftime, at line 5, went toe-to-toe with Giacomo Nava in the first set, finding the edge and winning 6-4. He carried this momentum into the second set and came out on top 6-2. 

  • At line six was the freshman from Missouri, Mason Cisco, who won 6-3, 6-2 with a convincing performance against Gewaltig.  


The Eagles' next game is their first conference game of the season, which they will play at home against Palm Beach Atlantic on February 8 at noon.
