DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Embry-Riddle men's tennis team (2-0) faced it's first conference game against Palm Beach Atlantic (0-2). The Eagles' dominated in the doubles winning all three in 30 minutes and carried this momentum forward winning the first Sunshine State Conference game of the season 6-1.
Doubles
- The first to finish was the No.3 pairing Wilson Igbinovia and Cisco Mason who defeated Noah Muyal and Alejandro Rol Franco 6-0.
- At No.1 the pairing of Michele Iftimie and Joshua Nuyts was quick to dismantle the Sailfish pairing of Luis Eduardo Platas and Juan Contreras, 6-2.
- Enrico Rosellini and Alvaro Diaz Rodrigo (No. 2) may have finished last, but the Sailfish brothers, Mark and Milan Visontai could only win two games against the Eagles (6-2).
Singles
- The Eagles struck first at No.4 after Diaz Rodrigo defeated Peter Dragar 6-0, 6-2.
- The No. 3, Rosellini kept the momentum going with a 6-1, 6-2 performance over Juanafer Contreras.
- Cisco secured the win for the Eagles at No.6 with a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Imani Beharry.
- Ifitimie posted a win against Mark Visontai at No. 5 in two sets. The Eagle won the first set 6-2 and stayed focused in the second winning 6-4.
- Igbinovia faced Eduardo Platas at No.1 and saw his match extended to three sets. He lost the first set 7-6 (4), but he regained control in the second winning the set 6-4. Igbinovia carried on the momentum coming out on top 10-8 in the tiebreak.
The Eagles return to the Crotty Tennis Complex on February 13th at 3:30 p.m., where they will face off against NAIA No. 4 Southeastern.
