Big Second Quarter Lifts No. 10 Women’s Basketball to 16th SSC Victory

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The 10th-ranked Embry-Riddle women's basketball team scored 24 second-quarter points on the way to a 68-54 road win against Palm Beach Atlantic on Wednesday. Madyson Jean-Louis registered her third straight 20-point game while Laurie Satchell scored 10 points in the fourth quarter to help the Eagles (22-2) improve their Sunshine State Conference record to 16-1.

GAME NOTES
• The Eagles are 10th in the latest WBCA Coaches' Poll and sixth in the most recent D2 CSC Media Poll.
• Wednesday's win completed the Eagles' season sweep of the Sailfish.
• The Eagles outrebounded the Sailfish 48-27 and allowed just six offensive rebounds and four second-chance points.
• The Eagle defense held the league's second-highest scorer, Kash Ayuso (18.3 ppg), to just four made field goals.

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Quarter
• Jean-Louis scored the first points of the game, finishing a three-point play after being fouled in the act of shooting.
• Both teams struggled from the field in the first quarter with the Eagles shooting just 26.7 percent (4-of-15) and the Sailfish shooting 35.7 percent (5-of-14).
• The Eagles' largest lead of the quarter was four, but the Sailfish came back to tie the game at 11-11 at the end of the period.

Second Quarter
• The Eagle offense erupted for a 21-0 run to start the second quarter.
• The scoring run saw the Eagles score on eight of their first nine field goal attempts.
• The Blue and Gold scored seven points off five Sailfish turnovers in the quarter.
• The Sailfish finally ended their scoring drought with a jumper at the 3:33 mark which started a 9-3 run to end the half.
• At the intermission the Eagles led 35-20.

Third Quarter
• The Sailfish carried their second-quarter momentum into the third, outscoring the Eagles 10-6 in the first three minutes to cut the lead to 11 (41-30).
• After knocking down back-to back threes, the Sailfish had a chance to narrow the gap to single digits, but Ayuso's three-point attempt missed the mark.
• Jean-Louis rebounded the miss and converted on a pair of free throws on the other end.
• Five made free throws in the last 3:41 helped the Eagles build the lead to 17 before going into the final frame up 52-37.

Fourth Quarter
• The Sailfish were 7-of-14 from the field in the fourth quarter and opened the period on a 9-2 run to cut the Eagle lead to eight (54-46) with 5:15 left to play.
• Coming out of a media timeout, Satchell and Pierre scored four points each to maintain the eight-point scoring margin (58-50).
• Satchell's next basket keyed a 10-4 Eagle run that helped seal the 14-point victory.

NEXT UP
The Eagles will be back in the ICI Center at 4 p.m. on Saturday to host Rollins.
