Nickson’s 43 Points Propels Men’s Basketball Over Rollins, 90-87

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Dru Nickson shined on the court all night long, producing 43 points to help Embry-Riddle Men's Basketball to a 90-87 win against Rollins. It was the second most points scored by an Eagle in program history, trailing only Elijah Jenkins' 44-point performance back in 2021.

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Half
  • ERAU built a quick 7-0 lead (17:52) with a shot from deep and a layup by Nickson along with an up-close make from Jerry Bracey II.
  • The Tars responded with an eight-point run to snatch the lead away (16:24).
  • Soon after, ERAU strung together 13 unanswered points as Nickson piled on six more points (23-10, ERAU).
  • The streaks continued as Rollins scored 10 straight with a pair of layups sandwiched in between three-pointers (23-20, ERAU).
  • Nickson, Jared Berry and Milan Skoric all converted on threes to send Embry-Riddle back up by double digits (34-23, ERAU).
  • The Tars cut that lead down to two points at 37-35 (5:01), but Nickson nailed back-to-back shots from downtown, and the Eagles held on to the lead for the remainder of the half.
  • Nickson tallied 23 points in the first 20 minutes of action, going 8-for-13 from behind the arc. 

Second Half
  • The scoring continued for Nickson, who recorded the Eagles first 11 points of the half with two free throws and a trio of three-point shots in the span of two minutes (60-50, ERAU).
  • Rollins evened the score with 8:21 to go at 69 points each, but the Eagles were determined to stay ahead as Dawson Barr made two quick threes.
  • In the last five minutes of the half, the Eagles got all their points at the charity stripe, hitting 13 of their 16 attempts.
  • Nickson added 20 more points in the second half while Clarens Pierre grabbed seven boards.
