Men’s Golf Tied for Third After Two Rounds at World Golf Village Collegiate

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. - It was a promising start to the World Golf Village Collegiate for Embry-Riddle men's golf as the Eagles (604) are tied for third place following the completion of two rounds on Monday. Ian Ball looks poised to grab his first top-10 result as a member of the Blue and Gold, sitting tied for seventh at 147 strokes through 36 holes. Ryan Gear is also near the top of the leaderboard in a tie for 11th (148).

  • Embry-Riddle tied for the third-lowest average on par-4s (4.27), tied for the fifth-lowest average on par-3s (3.35) and tied for the seventh-lowest average on par-5s (5.00).
  • The Eagles produced 20 birdies on the day, tied for the second most in the field.
  • ERAU also received 109 pars, which ranked tied for the fourth most.

Ian Ball (71-76=147) | T-7th
  • Ball grabbed an early lead after birdieing his first two holes. 
  • The junior tallied another two birdies for a team-high four on the round.
  • He was tied for third after 18 holes.
  • Just like in round one, Ball produced below-par scores in the first two holes of round two.
  • Ball found much success on par-3s as he tied for the fewest strokes on such holes with an average of 3.0.
  • The Port Orange, Florida native's seven birdies were a team high and tied for the third most among all competitors.

Ryan Gear (75-73=148) | T-11th 
  • Gear recorded three birdies in his opening round.
  • He closed round one on a strong note by going one under par over the last five holes.
  • That momentum carried over into round two as Gear parred his first eight holes. 
  • Gear was among the best in the field on par-4s, averaging 4.1 strokes to tie for the eighth-lowest average.
  • He led the team in holes parred with 25, which was also tied for the fifth most in the tournament.

Tiago Barni (79-76=155) | T-47th 
  • Barni accumulated three birdies in round two, which tied for the most on the team.
  • The senior was one under par on par-5s.

Aleksandar Abrashev (80-75=155) | T-47th
  • Abrashev began round one with three-straight pars.
  • He one-upped that performance with four-consecutive pars to start round two, and concluded the round with a birdie and a par.
  • The junior's 75 in round two was a season-best score.

Edoardo Scialanga (79-77=156) | T-56th
  • Scialanga notched par on each of his first six holes of round two.
