Women’s Lacrosse Loses in Overtime to the Fighting Knights

BOCA RATON, Fla. – The ERAU women's lacrosse team suffered their first loss of the season in overtime to the Lynn 14-13.

  • The Eagles trail the series 3-1 to the Fighting Knights. 
  • ERAU is 1-0 at home.
  • The Eagle lost 17-16 away, in the last match-up during the 2023 season.

HOW IT HAPPENED

First Quarter

  • The game remained scoreless for the first three minutes, but the first blow was delivered by the Fighting Knights' Rebecca Clark.
  • The Eagles went on to score three goals with back-to-back goals coming from ERAU's top goal scorer, Samantha Reich.
  • The Eagles trailed 5-3 at the end of the quarter.

Second Quarter

  • The Eagles came out strong with Sallie Squire scoring the first goal, but the Fighting Knights quickly countered with two.
  • A three-goal spurt came for ERAU at 7-4 down bringing them back to seven apiece.
  • Lynn got the last goal for the half taking the lead back 8-7.

Third Quarter

  • Eliana Enners opened the third quarter with a goal off a pass from Kenley Zeruto.
  • The quarter went quiet for 10 minutes with both teams' defenses shining. The spell finished with two goals apiece in the last three minutes.
  • The quarter finished 10-10.

Fourth Quarter

  • ERAU achieved its first lead of the game when Caitlin Gavin opened the quarter with a free position goal just 20 seconds in.
  • The Eagles pushed Lynn with three back-to-back goals but they couldn't hold on with the period ending 13-13.

Overtime 1

  • Embry-Riddle fought hard but couldn't find the net and the Fighting Knights came away with the golden goal.

NOTABLE PERFORMANCES

  • Enners hit two career milestones reaching 100 points and 100 draw controls.  
  • Reich was the Eagles' leading goal scorer for the evening with four goals, also collecting two ground balls and one caused turnover.
  • ERAU dominated the draw control once again, 24 to 6.

The Eagles look to bounce back on the road against Flagler next Wednesday at 7 p.m.
