Baseball Earns Sweep Against Saint Michael’s

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Embry-Riddle baseball team scored a pair of run-rule wins against Saint Michael's on Saturday afternoon at Sliwa Stadium. The Eagles won the first game 14-4 in eight innings and followed that with an 18-4 win in seven innings in the second game to extend their winning streak to seven games.

HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME 1
NOTABLES
Tristan Harley (3-1) picked up his third win of the season going six innings with four strikeouts.
AJ Marinello (2-for-5) and Alex Imposimato (3-for-5) drove in three runs apiece.
Timo Aracena reached safely in four of his five plate appearances.
• The Eagles recorded 15 hits, four of which were home runs.
 
First Inning
• The Purple Knights struck first thanks to an Evan Balian home run that scored two runs in the first.
 
Second Inning
Noah Clymer got things started for the Eagles with a one-out single through the left side.
Drew Clymer, the next batter in the lineup, belted a home run to left field to tie the score at 2-2.
 
Fifth Inning
• Jack Pattison singled home Trevor Moynihan for the Purple Knights' third run of the game.
• A one-out walk, a single and a hit by pitch put Marinello, Max Kops and Aracena on base for Noah Clymer who worked a walk to send Marinello across the plate.
• With three on and two out, Imposimato hit a bases-clearing double down the left field line to cap a four-run inning and give the Eagles a 6-3 advantage.
 
Sixth Inning
• The start of the sixth inning saw Elias Campbell hit his first home run of the season.
Matthew Coker walked and stole second and was doubled home by Marinello to increase the lead to 8-3.
 
Eighth Inning
• After each team scored a run in the seventh, the Eagle offense added five runs in the home half of the eighth to seal the win.
• Home runs by Kops and Noah Clymer highlighted the inning for the Blue and Gold whose five runs in the eighth came via four hits and two Saint Michael's errors.
 
GAME 2
NOTABLES
• Greg Bruno scattered four runs on eight hits and struck out two on the way to getting his second win of the year.
Matthew Coker and Max Kops each had four RBI, while Drew Clymer was 3-for-3 with two home runs and three runs scored.
 
First Inning
• The Eagles' first run of the second game came courtesy of Kops' two-out solo home run to right field.
 
Third Inning
• The Eagle offense erupted for 10 runs in the home half of the third.
• Campbell reached on a throwing error and came around to score when Matthew Coker hammered pitch over the left field fence.
• After singling and moving up on a balk, Kops crossed when Aracena singled down the right field line.
• Moments later, Noah Clymer an inside-the-park home run to drive in two more runs.
• A Drew Clymer double and a Cooper Schmidt walk kept the inning going for Campbell who singled home Campbell.
• With the base loaded, Marinello walked in another run and Kops cleared the bases with a triple to left center to make the score 11-0 in favor of the home team.
 
Fifth Inning
• The Purple Knights got on the board in the fifth, plating four runs on five hits.
• The Eagles responded with a five-run tally in the bottom of the inning.
• Aracena double to center and later scored on a wild pitch that moved Noah Clymer to second.
Noah Clymer scored on a passed ball and after a ground out sent Drew Clymer across the plate, Coker doubled to drive in two more Eagle runs and increase the Eagle lead to 16-4.
 
Sixth Inning
Drew Clymer joined his brother Noah and Kops with two home runs in as many games as his two-run shot to left scored Noah and closed out the 18-4 victory.
 
UP NEXT
The Eagles' next game will be at Sliwa Stadium at 5 p.m. on Wednesday when they host Florida Tech in a non-conference game.
