DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Embry-Riddle men's lacrosse team extended its winning streak to five games with a 12-7 win over Palm Beach Atlantic at the Embry-Riddle Lacrosse Field on Saturday. HOW IT HAPPENED
First Quarter
• Law scored the first goal of the game to put PBA up 1-0.
• Less than a minute later, the Eagles got the ball to
Giacomo Comuzzi on a clear and the junior outpaced the PBA defense before finding Mileto who tied the score at 1-1.
• Mileto took the ball to the goal himself to give the Eagles a 2-1 lead at the 7:19 mark.
• The Sailfish added two goals to reclaim a one-goal advantage.
• With seven seconds left,
Christian Hofer hit Anderson with a lateral pass and Anderson bounced in his second goal of the season to tie the score at 3-3.
Second Quarter
• Just under a minute into the second period, Mileto struck again with a quick finish off the feed from
Tim Keefe.
• At the 12:44 mark,
Pete Abbes found Anderson running at the goal and the senior buried his second goal of the game to put the Eagles up 5-3.
• After a six-minute scoring lull for both teams, the Sailfish got their fourth goal, but with 3:44 left
Christopher Harper wove his way through the PBA defense and finished a give-and-go with Hofer to reclaim a two-goal (6-4) lead for the Eagles at the half.
Third Quarter
• Scoring was at a premium in the third as each side netted just one goal apiece in that frame.
Fourth Quarter
• The Eagles dominated the Sailfish in the fourth stanza, outscoring the visitors 5-2.
• Embry-Riddle's first score of the quarter came when Mileto, standing behind the cage, delivered a pass to Abbes that the senior slotted past PBA goalie Brendan Pedisich.
• After Keefe netted his only goal of the day, the Sailfish scored twice to bring the deficit back to two goals (9-7) with 6:45 left to play.
•
Andrew Ewalt won the next faceoff for the Blue and Gold and that led to Keefe feeding Harper for the Eagles' 10th goal of the game.
• Mileto and Hofer added two more goals in the last 3:29 to seal the Eagle win.
