DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Embry-Riddle cheerleading team currently sits in ninth place following the first round of competition at the National Cheerleaders Association College Nationals. Competition in the preliminary round at the Ocean Center saw the Eagles earn a raw score of 77.0, but they received deductions totaling 3.75 and ended the day with an event score of 20.4514.
Routines performed on Thursday comprise 25 percent of a team's score. The other 75 percent will come from Friday's performances.
Last year's runner-up Lindenwood earned the highest raw score in the 11-team field on Friday with an 85.067 and was the only team with no deductions making their event score is 23.6296. Saginaw Valley State (82.3/22.6736) and King University (81.4/22.5486) round out the top three heading into Friday.
The Eagles will be back on the mat for the final round of competition on Friday afternoon at 1:44 p.m.
