No. 5 Women’s Tennis Downs Valdosta State 4-1

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla.- The No. 5 Embry-Riddle women's tennis team took on Valdosta State in the final non-conference match of the regular season on Tuesday. Many of the individual matches were close, but in the end, the Eagles prevailed, defeating the Blazers 4-1.

  • Charly Egger and Jessica Christa Wira Hadipoernomo did not drop a single game at No. 3 doubles as the ERAU duo dismantled Kayla Greco and Valentina Jimenez 6-0.
  • The No. 20 doubles team of Carla Cabero del Hierro and Laura Cuesta Bret needed just one break of serve against Olivia Pezo and Alyssa Novoa to clinch the doubles point with a 6-4 win at No.1.
  • The Eagles' first singles point came when Novoa, who lost the first game to Wira Hadipoernomo, retired with an injury at No.2 singles.
  • Benedetta Sensi scored the next point for ERAU with a 6-1, 6-2 defeat of Pezo on court three.
  • Carla Cabero del Hierro got the better of a matchup against Greco, topping the Blazer senior 6-2, 7-5.
  • At the No. 4 spot, Franzi Kremerskothen fended off a second-set rally from Viktoriia Federova, clinching team victory with a 6-1, 7-6 (3) win.

The Eagles close out the regular season on Saturday on the road against No. 2 Barry in a match that was rescheduled due to bad weather. First serve is scheduled for 10 a.m.
