Men’s Lacrosse Falls to Rollins in Regular Season Finale

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Embry-Riddle men's lacrosse team suffered a heartbreaking overtime loss to Rollins in the final game of the regular season on Wednesday. It took the better part of two overtime periods for the Tars to pull out an 12-11 victory over the 18th-ranked Eagles as both teams closed out the Sunshine State Conference slate.

RECORDS
Embry-Riddle: 8-6, 4-3
Rollins: 8-7, 5-2

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Quarter
• The Tars scored first at the 11:18 mark, but Christopher Harper answered for the Eagles less than a minute later, scoring an unassisted goal to tie the score at 1-1.
• Rollins took over the offense in the last 9:21 of the quarter, outscoring the Eagles 3-0 to take a 4-1 lead.

Second Quarter
• The teams were even in shots in the second period, but it was the Eagles who had the advantage on the scoreboard, outscoring the Tars 5-2.
Lucas Anthony scored his first goal of the game less than two minutes into the quarter and that triggered a 4-0 scoring run, punctuated by a Trey Dring finish on a Leo Mileto feed that gave the Eagles their first lead of the game (5-4).
• The teams traded goals in the last 2:51 resulting in a 6-6 tie at the half.

Third Quarter
• Rollins won the faceoff battle 4-1 in the third.
• With the score tied at 7-7, the Tars scored two goals in quick succession to go up 9-7.
• Harper got a goal back for the Eagles when he scored with 24 seconds left in the quarter.

Fourth Quarter
• Like the third quarter, the fourth also produced five goals between the two teams, but this time it was Eagles who held the 3-2 advantage.
• After the Eagles tied the score at 9-9, the Tars put together another 2-0 spurt to take an 11-9 lead.
• With 3:06 left in regulation, Christian Hofer grabbed a rebound and capitalized on an extra-man opportunity to make it a one-goal game (11-10).
• Once again, the Eagles found the touch with 24 seconds left as Harper found Dring for his second goal of the day to send the game into overtime.

Overtime
• Both teams had looks at the goal, but neither team was able to score in the first overtime period.
• An Eagle turnover midway through the second period of overtime proved costly as the Tars regained possession and scored with 1:34 left to emerge with the win.
