Eagles Falls to Mocs in the SSC Semifinals

LAKELAND, Fla. – The Embry-Riddle women's lacrosse team saw its Sunshine State Conference tournament run come to an end in the semifinals on Thursday, falling 13-6 to No. 3 Florida Southern. Despite a hard-fought effort, the Eagles struggled to capitalize on scoring opportunities throughout the match.

ALL-TIME SERIES
  • The Eagles now trail the all-time series 1-6 against the Mocs.
  • Florida Southern remains undefeated at home, improving to 4-0.
HOW IT HAPPENED

First Quarter
  • A quick three-goal burst from the Mocs in the opening five minutes immediately put ERAU on the back foot.
  • Eliana Enners got the Eagles on the board in the sixth minute, assisted by Ava Rogala. Callison Foreman added a second goal for ERAU with a strong finish past the keeper.
  • Turnovers hit the Eagles hard this quarter as they lost possession eight times.
Second Quarter
  • The Mocs struck first again, but less than 30 seconds later, Lucy Pickle scored her second career goal.
  • Caitlin Gavin followed with a goal of her own, cutting the deficit to one and shifting the momentum briefly in the Eagles' favor.
  • However, two late goals by the Mocs extended their lead, and ERAU entered the half trailing 8-4.
Third Quarter
  • The Eagles couldn't find their rhythm out of halftime as Florida Southern continued its scoring streak with two quick goals.
  • Foreman connected with Kenley Zeruto for ERAU's only goal of the quarter.
  • The Mocs closed the third leading 11-5.
Fourth Quarter
  • The fourth was the lowest scoring of the game, with only three goals between the teams.
  • The final Eagle goal came once again from Foreman as she tallied her second of the day and final goal for the Eagles with a powerful finish.
PLAYER SPOTLIGHT
  • Foreman reached a career milestone, scoring her 100th goal. She finished with two goals, one assist, and one groundball.
  • Gavin led the defensive effort with four caused turnovers and two groundballs.
UP NEXT
The Eagles now wait for May 4  for when the NCAA National Championship field is announced.
