No. 2 Women’s Rowing Captures Fourth-Straight SSC Title

SARASOTA, Fla.- Embry-Riddle Women's Rowing continued its Sunshine State Conference dominance as the Eagles claimed the program's fourth-consecutive SSC title on Friday morning. It was a clean sweep for the Blue and Gold as the Eagles claimed both Varsity 4 and Varsity 8 finals to finish with the maximum 25 points. Additionally, it was the first time Embry-Riddle claimed the team title and the two boat titles all in the same year. 

Jolee Paulk, Sarah Kinlocke, Abby Webb and Caterina Hart earned All-SSC honors while Emily Retty was named to the All-Freshman/Novice team.

THE RESULTS
  • V4+ | The Eagles slowly broke away from the field, but Tampa kept ERAU within a boat length. However, Embry-Riddle maintained its distance to secure the win by 5.5 seconds with a time of 7:40.6. 
  • 2V4+ | ERAU's second varsity 4 boat also competed in the race, though not for points. That shell posted the third-fastest time in the field at 8:10.7.
  • V8+ | Embry-Riddle had no trouble racing out to a comfortable lead and pulling away throughout the race. The Eagles (6:54.4) cruised to a 14.5-second win over Rollins and the rest of the field.

UP NEXT
The Eagles will now prepare for the NCAA II National Championship. This year's title will be contested at Mercer Lake in West Windsor, N.J. from May 30-31.
