Morse Deals, Oberkehr Extends Hit Streak With Walk-Off Double to Beat Panthers in Twelve Innings

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Embry-Riddle Softball came out on the winning end of an exhausting pitchers' duel on Friday afternoon as the Eagles beat Florida Tech 1-0 in a 12-inning affair. Shelby Morse pitched her third shutout of the season in her longest outing of her career. Offensively, Leah Oberkehr extended her hitting streak to 30 games with a game-winning RBI double to score Kerry O'Sullivan in the bottom of the 12th.

HOW IT HAPPENED
1st Inning
  • Starting pitcher Morse and the Eagles' defense kept the Panthers off the basepaths for the first three innings. 
7th Inning
  • Kelsey Kressler and Raissa Bianco made difficult grabs in the infield to give ERAU a chance to walk it off in the bottom of the frame.
  • With two outs, Mattea Martin gave the Blue and Gold hope with a single down the right line. 
  • However, she was stranded on first base. 
10th Inning
  • Embry-Riddle kept Florida Tech hitless for the first two extra innings, but the Panthers started the 10th with a single. 
  • However, the next batter fouled out on a sac bunt attempt as Kressler made a diving snag in front of the home dugout. 
12th Inning
  • The game saw a breakthrough in the bottom of the twelfth inning when, with two outs, O'Sullivan produced a single that shot through the pitcher's legs.  
  • Oberkehr stepped in and hammered a pitch to left center to score the game-winning run.
