SAINT LEO, Fla. – It took three overtime periods to determine the outcome of Saturday's Sunshine State Conference men's lacrosse battle between 15th-ranked Embry-Riddle and 13th-ranked Saint Leo.
Tim Keefe was the hero in Saturday's game, scoring the tying goal in regulation, as well as the game-winner in sudden-victory overtime to give lead the Eagles to an 11-10 win.
Keefe led all players with four goals and
Carter Groezinger had a season-high 18 saves as the Eagles notched their third win against a ranked opponent this season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Quarter
• The first 15 minutes featured a flurry of scoring activity as the teams combined for seven goals.
• Saint Leo scored the first goal of the game and the teams traded goals for the remainder of the period which ended with the Lions ahead 4-3.
Second Quarter
• Goals were at a premium in the second with each team managing just one goal.
• The Lions outshot the Eagles 9-7, but Groezinger came up with nine saves to keep Saint Leo at bay.
• The first goal of the quarter came from
Leo Mileto who slotted home a pass from
Pete Abbes to tie the score at the 4:07 mark.
• Saint Leo reclaimed the one-goal edged with 15 seconds left to lead 6-5 at the half.
Third Quarter
• Keefe opened the third stanza with an unassisted goal.
• The Lions scored the next two goals to gain a two-goal cushion.
• With 2:53 left,
Lucas Anthony made it a one-goal game again.
Fourth Quarter
• The fourth quarter mirrored the first with seven goals scored, but this time it was Embry-Riddle who had the 4-3 advantage.
• After Saint Leo scored to open the period, Abbes and Keefe combined for the Eagles' seventh goal of the game.
• The teams traded goals over the next eight minutes.
• With 2:17 left in regulation and the Eagles trailing by two, Groezinger came up with a big save on a shot from point blank range, and after a successful clear,
Christian Hofer found Anthony who pulled the Eagles within one (10-9) with 1:36 remaining.
• Saint Leo won the next faceoff, but
Bobby Cyr's caused turnover returned the ball to the Eagles who called a timeout.
• Coming out of the timeout the Eagles got the ball to Keefe and with 1:15 on the clock, he beat Drew Wheeler low to tie the score at 10-10 and send the game into overtime.
Overtime
• The Eagles and the Lions were evenly matched in each of the first two overtime periods with two shots apiece in each frame.
• After losing the faceoff in each of the first two sessions in extra time,
Elek Zubor won the faceoff in overtime No. 3.
• Less than a minute later, Keefe drove to the goal and eluded his defender before beating Wheeler again to give the Eagles the win.
