Men’s Tennis Falls to No. 3 Barry on the Road

Josh Nuyts scored the Eagles' only point against Barry

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – The 15th-ranked Embry-Riddle men's tennis team had a few close individual matches, but were unable to take down Sunshine State Conference foe Barry, falling to the third-ranked Buccaneers 6-1 on the road on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Barry won all three doubles matches to secure the doubles point.
• The Buccaneers picked up the three singles points they needed with wins at the fourth, fifth and sixth spots.
• Freshman Enrico Rosellini played Barry's second-flight veteran Tim Riedel tough before falling 6-4, 7-5.
• At No. 3, Joshua Nuyts dropped the first set 6-4, but bounced back to take the second 6-1 and held off Thomas Machado 13-11 in the 10-point tiebreaker to score the Eagles' only point of the day.
• The last match off the court saw the Eagles' Wilson Igbinovia edge Gabriele Felline 7-6 (4) in the first set, but Felline was able to take the second set 6-3, and won the 10-point tiebreaker 10-6.
 
UP NEXT
The Eagles look to bounce back on Saturday when they return to the Crotty Tennis Complex to host another SSC opponent in Eckerd at 2 p.m.
