No. 1 Women’s Rowing Makes Statement at Stacked UCO Invite

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla.- NCAA Division II's top women's rowing programs battled it out over the weekend on the Oklahoma River as No. 1 Embry-Riddle came out on top of the UCO Invite with 62 points. The Eagles narrowly beat No. 2 Cal Poly Humboldt by four points. All five teams competed in a pair of varsity four and eight races on Friday before racing in the finals on Saturday.

THE RESULTS
  • Varsity four posted a pair of strong results on Friday, placing second in both races with times of 7:59.8 and 7:51.0. The Eagles were 7-8 seconds back of winner Cal Poly Humboldt in both competitions.
  • In eights, the Eagles came third in the opening race (7:12.3), beating Seattle Pacific and Jefferson.
  • In the second race, the eight shell managed to also beat Central Oklahoma thanks to a mark of 7:07.3.
  • ERAU swept the finals on Saturday. 
  • Starting with fours, the Blue and Gold caught a break as Cal Poly Humboldt and Jefferson collided about 300 meters into the race. That allowed an opening for ERAU, and the Eagles won by five ticks over Seattle Pacific.
  • Embry-Riddle unloaded the tank in the second half of the V8+ final. The Eagles raced through the field and crossed the finish in first (7:20.44), three seconds ahead of Cal Poly Humboldt.
