Monday's NCAA II South Region contest features No.4 seed Embry-Riddle against fifth-seed Mississippi College playing at the Buccaneer Tennis Center on the campus of Barry University.

  • Embry-Riddle is making the second NCAA regional appearance in program history. 
  • The Eagles finished the regular season with a 20-6 record, were second in the SSC regular season and earned the second seed in the SSC tournament.
  • The Eagles celebrated two stand-out wins this season, beating Lynn University for the first time in program history and Nova Southeastern who sat at the top of the national rankings and were last year's national champions. 
  • The Eagles placed four on the SSC All-Conference team and had the SSC Freshman of the Year for the second straight year in Franziska Kremerskothen.
  • Wira Haipoernomo made history this year becoming the winningest singles player in program history, currently sitting at 78 wins.
 
ABOUT MISSISSIPPI COLLEGE
  • Head Coach Michael Ward and the Mississippi College Choctaws are making their first NCAA II regional appearance.
  • The Choctaws had two individuals earn First Team All-Gulf South Conference recognition - Emma Roberts and Rocio Martinez.
  • Roberts is the Choctaws' highest-ranked player at No. 14 followed by Martinez at No. 57 in singles. The combination of Julissa DeMata and Roberts is ranked No. 27 in the doubles rankings.

  • This is the second meeting between the Eagles and the Choctaws, the first in the postseason. 
  • The Eagles lead the match up 1-0, with a 4-0 victory in 2024.

The 2025 NCAA Division II women's tennis championship runs from Monday, May 12, and continues through the national championship match on May 25 Sanlando Park in Altamonte Springs, Florida, on May 25. The region's No. 1 and No. 2 seeds are hosting the opening two rounds, and the winner of each bracket will travel to compete in a field of 16 in a single-elimination competition.
