GAINESVILLE, Ga. - The sky opened up during the final round of the NCAA II South Regional as Embry-Riddle Women's Golf's Loa Johannsson concluded her 2024-25 season on Wednesday. Multiple showers rolled through the area, forcing the junior to play through a downpour on the first couple of holes and later from holes No. 8-11. Johannsson's three-consecutive 77s placed her in a tie for 69th with a 231 stroke total.

"The scores definitely do not reflect how well she competed and how much she has grown as a golfer, and there's still a whole other level she is about to unlock," said Head Coach Maria Lopez."I'm super proud of her growth in spirit, and I'm grateful she got to compete against the best of the best."

When asked about the difficulty of the course, Lopez added, "It's a golf course that will eat you up. You have to execute every shot. You can't lose focus or make a mistake or you're scrambling. It's a really good test, which is why it has hosted many prestigious events such as the NCAA national championship, Korn Ferry Tour, and Georgia section championships."

This concludes an impressive 2024-25 season for the program. Johannsson finished with the second-lowest scoring average in program history (75.5) and broke the program record for 54-hole score back at the Emerald Coast Collegiate. It was one of four program records set in 2024-25, including team single-round and three-round scores as well as season stroke average (309.8). Also impressive was the fact that four Eagles recorded an average score below 80 for the season.
