Volleyball Secures Sweeps at Embry-Riddle Invitational

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Embry-Riddle Volleyball opened the Embry-Riddle Invitational with a pair of sweeps on Friday, winning 3-0 against both Seton Hill and Clark Atlanta. Dakota Zieman led the attack in both matches, posting 26 kills over six sets. Ashlyn Koerner was the top setter with 54 assists, and Gabriela Pagan recorded the most digs in each contest, which totalled 32 at the end of the night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Set
  • Seton Hill began the match on a 5-1 run with a pair of kills followed by three-straight attacking errors from ERAU
  • The Eagles' deficit increased to six at 10-4
  • Later on, Embry-Riddle trailed 23-18 when it turned the set around
  • From there, the Eagles scored seven unanswered tallies to steal the set 25-23
  • Isabella Rujano notched three kills during that stretch while Zieman produced two aces
Second Set
  • The second set began the exact same way as the first as Seton Hill raced out to a 5-1 advantage with three-consecutive aces
  • Embry-Riddle's deficit hovered around five for half of the set until the score was 14-8 in favor of the visitors
  • From there, the Blue and Gold accumulated seven-straight points to grab a 15-14 lead
  • Four of those points during the run were a result of Zieman kills
  • With the score level at 18-18, Embry-Riddle claimed seven of the last eight points utilizing kills from four different Eagles to steal another set, 25-19
Third Set
  • The momentum shifted in favor of the home side as ERAU charged out to a 6-2 advantage from five miscues by the Griffins
  • Embry-Riddle's lead increased to double digits (21-10) with a sweep in sight
  • However, Seton Hill went on a 9-1 spurt to get within three (22-19) 
  • A kill by Zieman and two errors from the Griffins helped close the match out with a 25-21 set win

INSIDE THE STATS
  • Pagan picked up her 1,000th career dig with 23 in the match, the most by a Sunshine State Conference student-athlete in a three-set match in 2025 
  • Embry-Riddle held the edge in kills (44-29) and digs (68-60)
  • The Eagles held the Griffins to a -.056 hit percentage in the third set
  • ERAU's 68 digs were the most in the SSC in a three-set match this season
  • Koerner's four kills were a career best
  • Stella Weisbrod added a personal-high three assists
  • Her 13 kills and 13 digs gave the sophomore her third double-double in her past four games
  • Zieman posted career highs in points (18.5) and digs (15) 
  • Her team-best 16 kills awarded the freshman her fourth double-double of the season

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Set
  • Zieman carried the Eagles to a first-set win with eight kills in the set compared to just three for Clark Atlanta's entire team
  • With the score level at 6-6, Embry-Riddle went on a 19-4 run to easily capture the set 25-10
  • That included a 7-0 streak with three aces from Stella Weisbrod
Second Set
  • Set two was more of the same. Though Clark Atlanta had the upper hand early on with a 4-3 lead, Embry-Riddle fought back by notching six unanswered points, partly due to four errors by the Panthers
  • The Eagles more than doubled up Clark Atlanta's score (15-7)
  • Embry-Riddle ended the set on a 8-1 streak with Rujano, Fifi Harvey and Haley Manjack each tallying two kills in that stretch to win 25-13
Third Set
  • Embry-Riddle never looked back after its 11-3 start
  • A 6-0 spurt with a trio of kills from Harvey pushed the home team ahead 17-5
  • ERAU closed out the match by taking five of the last seven rallies to win 25-11

INSIDE THE STATS
  • Embry-Riddle held Clark Atlanta to a -.013 hit percentage, the team's best defensive performance of the year
  • On the opposite end, the Blue and Gold's .407 hit percentage was a season high
  • ERAU posted more kills (45-16), aces (9-1), blocks (5-2) and digs (40-25) than the Panthers
  • The Eagles' nine aces were a season-high and their one reception error was a season low
  • Olivia Hartmann had a career match with a personal-best six kills in as many attacks
  • Weisbrod accumulated a career-high four aces
