Johannsson Paces Women’s Golf to Begin Season

GULFPORT, Fla. - After competing in last year's NCAA II South Regional, Loa Johannsson led the way for Embry-Riddle Women's Golf during day one of the Eckerd Invitational. After two rounds, the senior sits in a tie for fourth with 145 strokes (+1) while the Eagles reside in eighth (623, +47) ahead of Palm Beach Atlantic (627), Erskine (629) and Catawba (639). Early in the second round, Johannsson found herself in the lead thanks to a trio of early birdies with Embry-Riddle rising all the way up into sixth in the team standings. 

The field is highly competitive as it features six top-15 teams according to the latest Women's Golf Coaches Association rankings.
